Photoshop

A collection of work I did on Photoshop for the Visual Communication for the Mass Media (JOUR 390) class at Cal Poly.

Editorial Illustration

In this first project, I created an editorial illustration for this article by Abha Bahttarai from the Washington Post. The article is about how the economy boomed in 2023 because consumers were spending more money so I wanted to illustrate the idea of people handing over money. I found image of people holding money, cropped them so it was their hand, and removed the background to put them all on a unified green background.

Diptych

For the very first assignment we did in class, we had to create a diptych, or side-by-side photo composite that tells a story. The story here is someone is adventuring in the jungle and as they walk they think they see a glint of something hiding in the bushes. They push the leaves aside and find a skull nestled in the foliage.

Personal photo

This is a picture of the P I took on the first day of Fall 2022 when it was raining and I think it is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken. I was supposed to do a little story for Mustang News about how it was unexpectedly raining on the first day of school so I took some photos to go with it. The story fell through but I think the photo still turned out cool. I think the picture is really pretty and I love how the green of the trees really pops out. I also really like how the path almost leads the eye up to the P following the idea of continuation. I also like how the trees and the pole frame the P so nicely. The fog rolling in over the hill looks super cool and contrasts with the dark hill. For this assignment we had to make minor adjustments in Photoshop, so I cropped it a little bit and brightened the image slightly.
